During the FIA WEC at Spa Maassen kicks off the season
Xavier Maassen is more than a fixed asset in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Benelux, with two titles, numerous victories and honourable placings. But beware, as from this season we are talking about the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, a clear recognition for the work put in by the organisers and quite clearly an added value for drivers and teams. Xavier Maassen obviously knows the saying never two without three, because at all costs he is out to add that third 2019 title to his record of achievements. True to tradition the season of the fastest one-make cup of the Benelux starts during the visit of the FIA World Endurance Championship in the Belgian Ardennes at Spa-Francorchamps. From 2nd through to 4th May the Porsche 991 GT3 Cup will be racing on the renowned asphalt south of Liège. Apart from the sprint races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, Xavier Maassen also has the 24 Hours of Zolder down in his diary.
Once again, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux counts six meetings, each comprised out of two races held during brilliant international and national meetings. The Porsche drivers will be racing three times during the DTM event at Circuit Zolder, in Assen and on the Nürburgring, once together with the World Endurance Championship (Francorchamps) and the Blancpain GT Series (Barcelona), and we will also see the great starting field of the Porsche 911 during the Whitsun races.
Xavier Maassen: “It goes without saying that I’m motivated to be tackling the season with DVB RACING. The upgrading to the Porsche Carrera, the awesome calendar, a top team and a great starting field with formidable competitors, what more could a sportsman ask for? I’m starting the countdown to the start of the championship!”
Xavier Maassen is not only a thoroughbred sportsman, but also a man with a golden heart. To underline that he is working this year with Make a Wish, an organisation (/www.makeawish.be), who want to offer sick children an unforgettable day and create a smile on their faces.
Xavier Maassen: “We will start during the races of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux at Zolder, that is the DTM weekend. The children will be welcomed there as princes and princesses all day, and in this way I hope to relieve them of their pain for a short while.”
